President
1. Description
The chair or president of the club acts as the club's leader and ensures that the executive committee functions as a team. He does not run the organization but spends time considering executive committee and contest board assignments to make sure that all of the work of the club is effectively delegated for completion. He ensures an ongoing planning process for the club's activities for the year ahead and the future.
The President is nominated at the Annual General Meeting each year and is a trained accredited DLRA official.
2. Responsibility
- As the Executive Committee chairperson, facilitate efficient and effective management of club committee meetings.
- Undertake ceremonial duties.
- Organisation representative.
- Provide leadership and support.
- Act as a signatory for the Club in all legal and financial purposes and monitor the clubs bank account in particular payments made.
- Ensure Club asset register is current
3. Knowledge and Skills
- Be well informed of all organisation activities and able to provide oversight.
- Be able to develop good relationships internally and externally.
- Be forward thinking and committed to meeting the overall goals of the Club.
- Have a good working knowledge of the Committee Constitution, rules, regulations, and duties of office bearers.
- Be able to work collaboratively with other Committee Members.
- Be a good listener and attuned to the interests of members and other interest groups.
- Be a good role model and a positive image for the Club in representing the Committee in other forums.
- Be a competent
public speaker.
4. Duties
- Chair monthly Executive Committee Meetings
- Chair quarterly General Meetings
- Chair the Annual General Meeting
- Submit an annual report to the Club at the Annual General Meeting.
Note: The difference between an executive committee member’s role and other
roles
A executive committee member role is a strategic position within the club and consequently, a executive committee member is responsible for governing the club. A executive committee member’s role should not be confused with
the management and operational roles of an organisation (like a Race Director, Inspector, Timer or Starter). The day-to-day work of the organisation is
managed and completed by these volunteers with the club. Unless you also hold an
execution (operational) role, it is not your responsibility to perform or be involved in the day-to-day
running of the club.
